A Near-Death Experience: Does Jay Learn from His Mistakes?
In the world of Ghosts, a popular CBS comedy, Jay's brush with death and his soul's close encounter with the devil might lead some to expect a life-altering transformation. But here's where it gets controversial: Jay, it seems, is not one for self-reflection or learning from his mistakes.
Utkarsh Ambudkar, the talented actor behind Jay, sat down with DECIDER to discuss the show's Season 5 premiere. He revealed that despite Carol's heroic sacrifice to save Jay, the character is unlikely to undergo any significant changes.
"Sorry to dash your hopes, but Jay's not one for learning from his mistakes. That's not the recipe for great comedy," Ambudkar explained. He went on to say, "This couple, Jay and Sam, is constantly evolving, but they don't have the luxury of time to look back and reflect. They're just like most of us, scrambling to get through each day."
Ambudkar, who is also set to make his directorial debut in Season 5, believes this reluctance to dwell on the past is what makes Jay and Sam one of TV's most beloved couples.
"They're just trying to survive and enjoy each day, and that's what makes them so special and lovable," he added.
As for his directorial journey, Ambudkar aims to create a collaborative, joyful, and efficient environment, drawing inspiration from his cast mates and the show's unique vision. He trusts his team implicitly and wants to ensure a stress-free environment where everyone can thrive.
In the interview, Ambudkar also teased upcoming episodes, including Halloween and Christmas specials, promising new ghosts, iconic film references, and a special Christmas episode that's sure to delight fans.
So, will Jay's near-death experience finally make him reevaluate his life? It seems unlikely, but with Ghosts, you never know! What do you think? Should Jay learn from his mistakes, or is his lack of self-reflection part of his charm? Let us know in the comments!
